Low Power Latching Valves
The Problem
Solenoid valves are a proven and reliable means to control the flow of a variety of fluids within the Oil & Gas industry. As rigs and well sites have become more remote and disparate, electrical power has become scarce. In these environments, Oil and Gas sensors (particularly wellhead solenoid valves) need to draw as little power as possible as infrequently as possible.
The Solution
Gems Sensors produces a wide variety of low-power wellhead valves. Our latching valves allow the user to pulse the valve and have it change state. The term “latch” refers to the valve in the open state where supply pressure goes to the external valve. The unlatched state is when the supply is cut off and the external valve is exhausted to ambient. The voltage does not need to be constantly applied in order to hold it in a state.
The Benefit
These wellhead valves are ideal for controlling larger pneumatic valves in remote application where power is limited or when the temperature of the media cannot be impacted as it flows through the valve. The larger pneumatic valves can close and open large pipes and these latching valves control them.
